I HAVE FINISHED A THING. A creative thing, no less. A thing that will make me no money and no one cares about and will not go on a resume. No grade will be issued and no one will read and no sweet external validation will flow into the gaping maw that is my ego. And yet, I am very happy. Quite excited. I feel like New Years Eve, all run out and completed and ready for a nice party and some fireworks.
It is done. Lo, I have completed the writing exercise known as Bad Company and it is good.
I’m actually quite pleased with how it turned out. I liked the characters, liked the ending (for once), and even the second-person narrative style seems to have grown on me. What a clever little story. It’s hard to believe that it was generated out of random dice rolls and arbitrary story cards. It came together quite nicely.
I had some extra time on my hands this weekend and it seems like there was quite a bit of stored-up creative juices that wanted to flow. Just let the magic happen, right?
